Svensk Form - Our Organization
As the world's oldest design organization, we have been working for more than 180 years to promote the power of design in society. We are a nationwide membership organization with 14 regional associations and thousands of committed members. Since 1999, we have had a government mandate and work to create commitment and highlight the opportunities design can provide for the individual, society, culture and business. Together with our members and partners, we run initiatives and projects that promote good design in products, services and environments to contribute to a sustainable society.
Svensk Form bases its activities on the four pillars of our mission:
The Individual
Our 14 regional associations play a key role in engaging members across the country, offering local activities and events. Through various initiatives and projects, we promote young talents, give design students and newly established designers the opportunity to be seen and develop, both nationally and internationally. By bringing together design enthusiasts and professionals from all over Sweden, we contribute to a vibrant and dynamic design community.
The Culture
Together with our members, regional associations and partners, we arrange festivals, programs and exhibitions throughout Sweden. These range from festivals, talks and exhibitions in both smaller and larger formats. Some of the larger events we organize are Ung Svensk Form, which is Sweden's leading award and exhibition for young designers, and Stockholm Craft Week, which is Sweden's largest event for contemporary crafts.
At Svensk Form we also have an extensive design archive, both digital and physical. Our digital archive can be explored via the digital reading room at the Center for Business History, while the physical archive is located at Grindstuvägen 48-50 in Bromma and houses an invaluable collection of Swedish design history. The library at Skeppsholmen complements this work and is a unique resource for researchers and the public. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact us.

The Society
With design as a force for development, we run projects and initiatives that contribute to sustainable social development. Swedish Design Movement is an example of our work to position Swedish design on the international stage while promoting a sustainable transition. We organize knowledge days and seminars to raise awareness of the role of design in society. In close collaboration with academia and other organizations, we link research and education to drive development forward and meet contemporary challenges.
Trade and Industry
Swedish Design plays a central role in promoting the link between design and innovation and entrepreneurship. By identifying and creating opportunities for strategic collaborations, we build bridges between companies, organizations and other relevant actors, both nationally and internationally. Our extensive partner network enables us to bring the business community together in contexts where creativity and business development can flourish. As a bridge between Sweden and the outside world, we help to strengthen the competitiveness and visibility of Swedish companies in the global market. Through advice on intellectual property and skills management, we support long-term solutions that drive innovation and sustainable growth.
