How does it work?

The Swedish Design Award does not rely on traditional categories, but focuses on highlighting good examples from the Swedish design scene, regardless of discipline. The jury assesses the works based on several aspects, including the quality of the work, the quality of the idea, the quality of the workmanship, sustainability, social relevance, and craftsmanship excellence.

The assessment can cover everything from timeless everyday objects to advanced material innovations and site-specific environments, always with a clear link to our present and future. The overall selection of recipients should collectively represent the best Sweden has to offer.

Requirements for participation

In order for a project to be nominated and assessed within Utmärkt Svensk Form, the following applies:

  • The product, work, or environment must be available on the market or in the public domain. Prototypes and research projects are not eligible for assessment.
  • For 2026, the project must have been on the market or in the public domain in 2024 or later.
  • The project must be representative of Swedish design and have a clear connection to the Swedish design world.
  • The contribution must be demonstrated either physically or through images, film, or similar presentation material.

Nominations

Nominations are made by submitting a double-sided PDF. The PDF must contain a description of the product, environment, or material of no more than 500 characters and three images. The nomination must not exceed two pages.

Send your nomination to nominering@svenskform.se by March 16, 2026.

After the award ceremony

The winning entries are presented in an exhibition that tours throughout the year. The exhibition opens each spring in the next year's host city and runs until September, when the next winner is announced. The aim is to show the breadth and strength of Swedish design and to inspire a wider audience. Through the exhibition, Svensk Form wants to highlight the role of design in society and its importance for both culture and the economy.

As an annual award Utmärkt Svensk Form is one of Sweden's most important design awards - a platform to highlight the best in Swedish design and carry the tradition into the future.
