Swedish Style
Swedish Style was initiated in collaboration with the Sverige Embassy in Tokyo in 1999 as a platform to present Swedish design, fashion, music, food and culture in Japan. Svensk Form later held the 10th anniversary and now it is time to celebrate that Swedish Style turns 25 years.
The aim has been to spread knowledge about contemporary Swedish design, culture and lifestyle and strengthen contacts between Swedish and Japanese creators. Swedish Style has contributed to an increased interest in Swedish design in Japan and laid the foundation for long-term collaborations in both culture and business - several of which continue to this day.
Examples of activities include the design exhibition Young Swedish Design in Tokyo 2018, joint projects between Swedish and Japanese designers and cultural programs in collaboration with the Swedish Institute.
During the fall of 2025 Swedish Style will continue with a series of activities in Tokyo, including exhibitions, networking events and discussions involving around 20 Swedish companies and designers. The program is carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy, Business Sweden, the Chamber of Commerce in Tokyo and Japanese partners, and takes place mainly in connection with the design festival DesignArt Tokyo October 31 - November 9.
