Lecture with garden designer Simon Irvine in Örebro

Open lecture with garden designer Simon Irvine at Kulturkvarteret in Örebro (Akustiken venue).

For over 30 years, Simon Irvine worked as a garden designer and gardener in the Small Castle Garden at Läckö Castle. An ethical approach to recycling guided his work, which has inspired countless visitors over the years. Most of what was grown was edible, certified organic, and served in the castle's restaurants. Meeting visitors was important to him from an educational perspective.

Simon Irvine is an author and photographer who has also made a name for himself as an inspiring speaker. He has participated in garden projects such as Gunnebo Castle – Back to the 18th Century, Wij Gardens, Måltidens hus in Grythyttan, and created exhibition gardens at Rosendal during the European Capital of Culture year, Hedens lustgård in Gothenburg, Bo 01 in Malmö, Ulriksdals flower show, and Gothenburg Botanical Garden.

The lecture is being held in collaboration with Örebro County Handicraft Association and is open to everyone. No registration or admission fee required.

If you're hungry, we recommend arriving a little earlier and visiting Kulturbistron for an evening snack or something similar.

MariaGranlund from Lilla Textiltryckeriet will visit us and explain why they started their business during the pandemic, what printing technology they use, and a little about how they create patterns.
But also why tufting became another focus for them?
There will also be an opportunity for some to try a little tufting.

Maria will also announce that on March 7, they will offer us a trial workshop in tufting, textile printing, and pattern design at their premises in the old Hörsta school outside Kumla. See the separate invitation for this (to follow later).

Anyone interested in design is welcome! Free for members, SEK 25 for others. No registration required.

Lecture and in-depth discussion about the exhibition "One last message - greetings from Varberga" by project manager Anna Maria Hellner ÖBO.

Based on the urban development project in Varberga Centrum, new questions are raised about how early art can enter a construction project.
The lecture is about site development where art, design, architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture and garden co-create in the public space.

The group exhibition "Ett sista medskick- hälsningar från Varberga", which runs between April 25 - May 19, is with the artists Ruben Wätte, MASU (Susanne Westerberg and Mattias Gunnarsson) Jenny Käll, Tina Macha and Sabinaz Hakimi. Curated by Veronica Hejdelind and Anna Maria Hellner. With it, they want to highlight how and why art and the artist should be involved from an early stage.

Based on the transformation of Varberga center, a number of parallel art projects have taken shape. Questions that have arisen during the work have been about: How early can art enter a construction project? And what should art do in the early stages? How should everything that is said during a citizens' dialogue, meetings with children and young people be conveyed, passed on, to other important social functions for discussion and decisions? What do we need art for?

The exhibition group invites the visitor to think, discuss and build a place together during the exhibition period and to create new solutions together with the visitor during the exhibition period's open workshops, panel discussions and lectures.

You are also welcome to the vernissage on April 24 at 17-20. There will be an artist talk at 17.30-18 with the artists Ruben Wätte, MASU, Jenny Käll, Sanaz Hakimi, Tina Macha and Anna Maria Hellner.
The exhibition is about how to work with art in early processes of urban development.

Annual meeting in Örebro with Birgitta Notlöf from Livstycket

Welcome to our Annual General Meeting, which will be held at ÖrebroBostäder's head office in Örebro. PLEASE NOTE! Sign up for the meeting!

First, the usual annual meeting proceedings are held. Then coffee / tea and sandwich cake are served. Then we get a talk about the business Livstycket by its engine Birgitta Notlöf.

Registration must be made by March 6 to orebro@svenskform.se. Also indicate any veg or special diet. Free for members, 50 SEK for others.
Come on time for at 18 the doors will be locked.

Can integration work?

Birgitta Notlöf talks about her book Livstycket - Hela livet i en väska. It is the story of the 27 years she worked with Livstycket in Tensta.

Thousands of women from all over the world have participated in the association's activities, designing patterns and creating textile art, while studying Swedish and social studies.

"I have seen that it is possible to feel community and belonging. That it is possible to feel welcomed and included in Swedish society. I hope the book can be an inspiration to others who want to make society better for everyone," says Birgitta Notlöf.

The bodice is a garment used in the past by women in Sweden, to provide warmth and support. This is how we wanted our association to be. A warm, safe and supportive place for women, who may not have had access to any other such place outside their own home, and sometimes not even there. We also wanted to be a bit cheeky, colorful and curvy and challenge society's view of immigrant women as a group, Birgitta writes.
