The Executive furniture series - Jenny Nordberg/Yllw Factory

The Executive is a furniture series by Jenny Nordberg and Yllw Factory, where used office furniture is transformed into new objects. Based on the idea of a "library of possibilities", even the least attractive parts are seen as raw materials with new potential. Sound absorbers become sofas, table tops become coffee tables, desk components become lamps, and shutter cabinets become sculptural storage furniture. Each piece of furniture is a unique hybrid - a collage of parts given new life. Production takes place in Yllw Factory's workshops in Dalby, where Nordberg's design ideas meet craftsmanship and industrial recycled production. Some furniture is offered on order, others go into series production.

Jury motivation

With The Executive, Jenny Nordberg redefines our view of office furniture, from standardized throwaway products to a collection of unique objects with character and sustainability in focus. The series is based on the reuse of leftover parts that would otherwise be discarded, such as sound absorbers, damaged stands and leftover shutter cabinets, which are transformed into new furniture with a strong presence and clear function.

The collection shows how design can be both critical and constructive. With precision and humor, The Executive challenges norms around aesthetics, status and value in work environments, while combining circular thinking with formal integrity.

The jury sees here an exemplary example of how residual parts can be utilized to create furniture and products that are both environmentally and economically sustainable, a collection that points to the future by starting with what already exists.
