Carving Series
The Carving Series depicts the silent conversation between hand and material. I have carved the works from soapstone, inspired by nature's slow transformation. The shapes feature soft, eroded surfaces, sharp points, and exaggerated curves—as if nature itself had taken a step too far.
Jury motivation
At first glance, the series may give the impression of digitally produced shapes or machine-processed material fragments. In reality, it is something else entirely. The creator has used his own hands to shape the traditional material of soapstone into forms that carry an energy and presence rarely found outside of nature. These delicate sculptures, which fit in the palm of your hand, radiate a contemporary strength and poetic tranquility.
