I have investigated how the shape of an object is affected when using a material that cannot be completely controlled. I had a general idea of the shape, but allowed each new design choice to influence the next. My starting point was manufacturing, resources, and what is considered "attractive" and functional.

Jury motivation

Throughout history, humans have attempted to tame nature, its materials, and their surroundings to create objects for everyday use. This project is a beautiful example of when the material dictates the form—and not the other way around. It is a work characterized by great respect for the inherent power of the material, where the process itself shows the way forward. A meeting between the present and ancient craft traditions.
