X-TRAKOJAN: From Construction Waste to Public Space
X-TRAKOJAN is a hyperlocal placemaking project and my thesis project at KTH Architecture. In collaboration with the City of Stockholm, I transformed an abandoned lot in Frihamnen into a temporary public space. Local construction waste and citizen engagement set the framework for the design of the furniture and the space.
Jury motivation
The project deals with abandoned materials at an industrial port site undergoing conversion. In dialogue with the municipality and inspired by the everyday voices of the place, a method is being developed for architecturally reassembling construction waste. Through new structural compositions, the materials are reevaluated and used to create a public infrastructure of urban furniture.
