Heaven and Earth
The starting point for Heaven and Earth is the harsh reality of losing a parent. Based on the theme of opposites, I have created a series of furniture that balances between stability and unrest, between warm and cold, soft and hard. A dialogue between emotion and function, where the personal strengthens the professional.
Jury motivation
This project is deeply personal to the designer. As a viewer, you are struck by two distinct impressions: the contrast between the two materials, warm and cold, old and young, rough and soft. The second impression is a feeling of instability and uncertainty. Instead of the center of gravity being close to the bottom, it is placed high up, so high that it even breaks through the surface of the table. The result is a fascinating object with strong aesthetic qualities.
