Unraveled in Time
With worlds shaped by butterflies and echoes of the Renaissance, created with Gen AI, I designed detailed print patterns adapted to draped textiles. Through 244 hours of resolution, a fragile beauty was revealed, somewhere between image and absence, where the threads float in time.
Jury motivation
Unraveled in Time is somewhere between textile and sculpture. AI-generated artworks are printed out and then carefully picked up by hand, thread by thread.
Butterflies appear when the large pieces of fabric are draped from the ceiling. The work displays an impressive use of color and transparency, with light filtering through the tangled threads. It offers a reflection on the contrast between the immediacy of AI and the time-consuming nature of manual craftsmanship.
