With a sharp needle, she embroiders the voice of the Sami in public discourse. Britta Marakatt-Labba - a perennial artist - depicts the Sami way of life, stitch by stitch, from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Its challenges as well as its everyday life and joys. Everything from the exploitation of Sápmi by the state and companies with mines and wind farms, to love and our place in the universe. A unique artistry that has taken her from Upper Soppero to the international art scene.

Britta Marakatt-Labba is an obvious recipient of the title of Norrbotten's Shape Carrier of the Year 2024.
