Embroidered porcelain animals
What is it about all these porcelain animals? Why were they made? Who bought them and who saved them? Why do they affect me? I find them at flea markets and then spend countless hours embroidering their portraits. You could say that I give porcelain animals the attention they don't deserve.
Jury motivation
Through the time-consuming care of embroidery, mass-produced and discarded porcelain figurines are given a new life and a heightened significance. With humor and affection, the artist highlights the human being as a (more or less peculiar) collector.
