The desert, camels, and the chaos of Cairo. A field trip to sculptor Karin Ward

On Thursday, September 3, at 6:00 p.m., we’ll take a “Form” excursion to visit sculptor Karin Ward at her home and studio in Långbyn, 1.5 mil north of Örebro.
She will talk about the desert, camels, the chaos of Cairo, the people, the rain, exhibitions—in short, the life she lived there during those six years in Egypt.
Karin says: Right now I’m working with Stockholm’s old copper roofs.
After 200 years, a copper roof is beautifully patinated but has reached the end of its life as a roof.
I was able to buy the pieces that I felt spoke to me.
Right now I’m making a large leaf that will be on display at the Österlen Sculpture Park in Solhälla, Löderup, opening July 5.
I’m 86 years old, so considering the materials I work with, I’m not old.
I’ve been living at Sjöviks Farm near northern Lången for 10 years. Here I’ve built my large studio, and I’m very happy here because of that.
The important thing right now is to be settled and to be able to work on my art.
It’s an advantage to be able to display my art in the studio.
Everyone is welcome to come to her home to see and wonder!
Karin was the 2018 Formbärare for Örebro County.
This time, everyone should bring their own drinks and a packed lunch.
