Design bar: creativity, sustainability and social relevance

What is creative, sustainable and socially relevant design? Together with previous winners of Excellent Swedish Design, ArkDes and Svensk Form invite you to an evening of discussion, reflection and creation.

In connection with Svensk Form's re-launch of the design award Excellent Swedish Design, we look back and forward together with previous award winners. Based on the award's criteria Creative Height (originality and innovation), Sustainability (economic, social and ecological) and Societal Relevance (impact and long-term value), we delve into how the design field has changed since the award was established in 1983.

Previous winners reflect on what their works meant then and what they mean today together with Daniel Golling, curator of the collections at ArkDes. Afterwards, you as a participant get to interpret and spin on ideas about what constitutes creativity, sustainability and social relevance today. With paper and pencil in hand, we sketch new design ideas based on the evening's conversation.

At the ArkDes Design Bar we explore contemporary challenges through different design methods. We gather around a question through a lecture or a panel discussion, before we delve into the topic in a workshop. Design-bar is an initiative to highlight the power of design for sustainable social development. During the evening, you can buy non-alcoholic drinks and snacks at Torget with Swish.
