The Foyer at Moderna Museet – JOYN Studio / Moderna Museet

JOYN Studio has designed the entrance, foyer, and café at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. Building on Rafael Moneo’s original architecture, the project includes custom-designed interiors, improved acoustics, new lighting, and site-specific details.

Jury motivation

Through a thoughtful and artistically grounded design, Moderna Museet’s entrance and foyer have been transformed into an inviting and flexible environment where architecture, art, and function interact with great precision. Natural stone, custom-designed furnishings, and artisanal details contribute to a cohesive whole that encourages visitors to linger and interact. Moderna Museet’s foyer has been awarded the Utmärkt Svensk Form 2026 prize for its contemporary and subtly powerful design work in public interiors and spatial identity.
